What does it feel like to be brimming with creative energy?
Creative energy is that force within you that gives you a vision, a goal, and an inner fire to make these visions happen. It is also the desire to shape your future by taking charge of your present. Someone living aligned with creative energy responds to life mindfully, and allows that vision to shift and change while still making progress towards it. Feeling misaligned from your creative energy can lead to an overall sense of unease and dissatisfaction. Things aren’t working out, plans fall apart, or you have plans and just can’t do them.
I ask you to think more abstract when it comes to the concept of being a creator, or collaborating on a project. Sometimes (often times), the project in question is simply you, you are the work in progress. As empowering as this mindset can be, it is also a daunting one when you are feeling a creative blockage and cannot, for whatever reason, continue going on without confronting it.
The King of Swords in the reversed position for this particular reading leads me to believe that there are several of us who are too caught up in our own heads. It is helpful to make plans and to-do lists, and to have your sights on the future. However, it is a very different thing to actually do it. When this card appears, it means the mental path has run its course, and it is time to actually get your hands dirty. The answers won’t come to you through thinking right now, they’ll come through active inspiration.
When you’re creatively blocked, this concept is easy to say but feels nearly impossible to implement. For those that feel this way, I challenge you to fail at something first. If you write, write an awful poem. If you garden, throw some dirt around mindlessly. Whatever molehill that has become a mountain to you, tackle it without perfectionism looming over your head and just get started. The kind of confrontation you need to put forth on your creative block is only partially in the mind, the rest is in translating that mental energy into practice.
The Three of Pentacles is adding to this message, a wish for us to collaborate and share our experiences and resources. How can you make this road a less solitary one? Are you surrounding yourself with those that inspire with their efforts (or those that you could inspire)? Occasionally you may feel that working on yourself (and the struggles that come with it) is a burden to others, one that you should be handling by yourself. Did you ever consider that this is a group project and you just never got the memo? Your contributions from doing the work add to a far greater tapestry, we need you to come forward when you need help because you are also part of the solution.
The Ace of Wands completes our reading with a task and a promise. If you do the work, a second wind will come. When it does, you need to take full advantage of it and run with the new burst of energy and support. Invite new ideas in, be receptive, and be responsive to the way things are unfolding. It can also be beneficial to use this second wind and renewed inner fire wisely to avoid burnout, the gift lies in mastering how to harness that energy without running yourself into the ground.
Breathe in, breathe out, and create.
